Whether you&#8217;re currently claiming PIP, thinking of applying, or just want to understand how these changes may impact your rights, this no-fluff guide breaks down what\u2019s happening, what\u2019s at risk, and where to find support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-changing-with-pip\"><strong>What\u2019s Changing With PIP?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From <strong>November 2026<\/strong>, the government plans to change how people qualify for the <strong>daily living component<\/strong> of PIP. Right now, people can qualify if they score a total of 8 points across multiple activities. Under the new rules, you&#8217;ll need to score <strong>at least 4 points in one single activity<\/strong> to get this support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This sounds like a small change. But it\u2019s a big deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government says 9 in 10 current recipients will still qualify after reassessment. So even if you feel safe now, it\u2019s worth preparing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pensioners\"><strong>Pensioners<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re over 65 and already on PIP, you won\u2019t be routinely reassessed unless your circumstances change. However, those approaching retirement age will still be subject to the new rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-terminal-illness\"><strong>Terminal Illness<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have less than 12 months to live, you\u2019ll still be fast-tracked for PIP and exempt from these changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-support-is-being-offered\"><strong>What Support Is Being Offered?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To ease the blow, the government says there will be a <strong>13-week transitional payment<\/strong> for anyone who loses their PIP because of these reforms.
